Life insurance is essential
Yes, even if you are young and in perfect health. I know it might not be at the top of your bucket list, as we are slowly getting out of this never-ending pandemic. But it’s a great idea to get life insurance sooner than later.
Someday, you might want to start a family of your own, whether you have children or furry babies. If something were to happen to you, you wouldn’t want to leave a financial burden on your loved ones. This is where life insurance comes into play.
Life insurance isn’t about saving for your retirement. It is about helping to protect your loved ones financially if you pass away.

Simplified Term Life Insurance
Get insurance with a monthly cost that’s guaranteed not to change for the first 10 years. After 10 years, the monthly cost will increase each year, based on your age.

Sun Life automatically includes up to 90 days of Temporary insurance that starts when you submit your application.
Term Life Insurance
With Sun Life Go Term Life insurance, you can help protect your loved ones for a term of 10 or 20 years. The monthly cost stays the same for the entire length of your policy.
Available for ages 18-69, at coverage amounts of $100,000 to $1,000,000 (in increments of $25,000).
Sun Life asks 8 health questions during the online application.
Healthy applicants that answer “no” to the health questions may not need medical exams as part of their application.
- If you’re between the ages of 41-50, you could get up to $500,000 coverage, without a medical exam.
- If you’re age 40 or under, you could get up to $1,000,000 coverage, without a medical exam.
If you do need a medical exam as part of your application, Sun Life will follow up with you. Sun Life automatically includes up to 90 days of Temporary insurance that starts when you submit your application.
Choose the insurance that suits your needs
Life insurance is a personal matter, even in a couple.
Let me give you a real-life example
When my ex and I moved into our first apartment in our early 20s, we both had different life goals, incomes, and education.
Our financial advisor suggested that we each look into two different types of life insurance. We ended up buying different types of insurance based on our needs. I bought Permanent life insurance and my ex bought Term life insurance.
The reason is simple: I had already graduated from university; my ex still wasn’t sure what he wanted to do with his life.
Since I knew what I wanted out of life, my financial advisor recommended I take a permanent life insurance for the stability and the guaranteed amounts my beneficiary would get.
My ex went with a term life insurance for the time being because he was going to be able to convert it into a permanent insurance when he’d be ready.
You don’t need to be in a relationship to get life insurance
That’s an important point to make. If you are between 18 and 74 years old, you should get a life insurance policy to protect your loved ones. The beneficiary doesn’t have to be a partner; it can be a family member or a friend.
I am repeating myself but I really want to make sure this is clear: would you like to leave your family with a financial burden if something were to happen to you? If the answer is no, life insurance helps to protect your family.
